Woman National Master Jersey Marticio ruled the 2024 National Age Group Chess Championships - U18 Girls Elimination FIDE rated tournament in Dumaguete City even as Rey Julius Taguba broke the 2000 barrier to complete his online Arena Grandmaster title status via the online platform.Marticio won all her eight games in Dumaguete to top the girls division and march forward to the Grand Finals slated on June 22-30 in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Fred Paez for always supporting my participation in the national chess events,' said Marticio.Taguba, the leading player of Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna, finally obtained his AGM title after playing more than 1500 games in four months.'I can't achieve this without the support of my family, Dr. Fred Paez, coach Apollo Agapay, Tabuko Cabuyao Chess Club, and my fellow chess players and friends,' said Taguba.
