The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) will be implementing this November a new regulation that will penalize commercial airlines which have “chronic flight delays”.

CAB Legal Division Head Wyrlou Samodio said the new regulation was already sent to the University of the Philippines Law Center for review, and this will published in a national publication, and, after 15 days, the agency will be implementing the rules and regulations before Christmas.

“We will be penalizing or modifying the approval of airlines which would be found to have more than 51 percent of their flights delayed or cancelled for whatever reason,” Samodio said.In July, CAB ordered all local carriers to submit a monthly on-time performance report which must contain the average of all daily flights per airport of origin.
