Jeffrey Sanchez Gomonit was driving a Mitsubishi Montero Sport when he was shot around 9 p.m. in front of a popular mall on Pope John Paul Avenue.The back rider got off the motorcycle and repeatedly shot the victim at close range.
The assailants, who wore full-faced helmets, drove off after the attack, which happened a few meters from the Mabolo Police Station. It was in the same area where Police Captain Delfin Bontuyan was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen last May.The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Major Dexter Basergo, chief of the Mabolo police, said the attack may have been carried out by hired killers.“We already have a person of interest. He is a former business partner of the victim. Based on the text message that we found in his cell phone, he was set up and his movement was monitored,” said Basirgo.Police said the victim came from a meeting and was on his way to pick up his family in an uptown mall when he was attacked.
