Bus driver in Makati mishap lied about the brakes – Police

At least 11 persons were injured in the September 4 incident, one of them an officer of the Philippine Coast Guard.

Bus driver Marlon Nacaytona claimed the brakes of the bus failed causing him to hit several vehicles along Osmeña Highway. “Apparently, he was lying about the brakes of the bus. He insisted to us that when he stepped on the brake pedal, the brakes did not work,” Makati Police chief Col. Oscar “Jack” Jacildo said.

“When the LTO checked the bus driven by the suspect, they learned that the brakes are perfectly fine and working,” he said. Because of Nacaytona’s demeanor after the incident, Jacildo requested that he undergo a medical exam and drug test.
