tv MANILA — Lawmakers are enjoining bus companies operating in EDSA to form a consortium that will have a single dispatch system that can control the number of buses on the crammed thoroughfare, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Friday.
"Paano mo iintegrate iyon, how will you put a schedule on these companies when ang iniisip nila, paano kami kikita?" he told ANC. All 3 of Metro Manila's railways bogged down last week, including the LRT-2, which remained on partial operations after a 5-day shutdown, that forced some 220,000 passengers to find alternative modes of transport, including free rides offered by the MMDA.
He added that it would be "contradictory" and "quite funny" for the government to ask for emergency traffic powers for President Rodrigo Duterte after Panelo denied the supposed transport crisis.
