BuCor denies report on ‘dead bodies piling up’ inside Bilibid COVID19

MANILA – The Bureau of Corrections on Saturday dismissed a report that dead bodies were piling up inside New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City as the country grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic.

An inmate at the state penitentiary recently died from COVID-19. The inmate was admitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine on April 17 but succumbed to the disease on April 23. “Dapat ang isinali sa report ay mula nung October para makita ang discrepancy, mayroong comparative point,” he said.“Kung mayroon mang magbago sa ating statistics, makakaasa po kayo na ilalabas iyon. Walang dahilan na hindi natin ilabas,” he added.
