BTS released their “Map of the Soul: 7” album on Feb. 21 and according to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, it sold 2.65 million copies on the first day.
With this, BTS broke their own record for “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which had total sales of 1.47 million on the first day and 2.13 million in the first week when it was released on April 12 last year.Hanteo added that “Map of the Soul: 7” sold 350,005 copies in the first eight minutes of release and after an hour, it reached 1.03 million copies to make BTS the first artist to sell 1 million copies in the shortest period of time. “Map of the Soul: 7” also sold 194,459 copies on the second day on Feb. 22 to bring a two-day total to 2.84 million copies in sales. Hanteo’s figures come from Korea, Amazon and other outlets. On Amazon, it is the No. 1 on the Best Sellers in CDs & Vinyl category. In addition, the album became No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums chart in 91 countries and regions while the lead single “ON” topped in 83.
