INFLATION could slow further in May due to lower fuel, electricity, fish, and poultry prices, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said on Wednesday. READ HERE:

Consumer price growth will likely decelerate for a fourth straight month to 5.8-6.6 percent, the central bank said, after it hit a 14-year high of 8.7 percent in January.'[T]he cumulative rollback in domestic petroleum prices, as well as lower poultry and fish prices and electricity rates of various regional power distributors could lead to lower inflation in May,' the BSP said in a statement.On the other hand, Manila Electric Co.

'Going forward, BSP will continue to monitor developments affecting the outlook for inflation and growth in line with its data-dependent approach to monetary policy formulation,' the central bank said.Inflation results for May will be released by the Philippine Statistics Authority on Tuesday, June 6.The continued inflation decline as of April prompted the BSP's policy making Monetary Board to defer raising interest rates anew last May 18.
