BSP orders banks to accept PhilID as top document

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Wednesday ordered banks and other BSP-supervised financial institutions under its supervision to prioritize the Philippine Identification Card as the primary form of valid identification.

Before this, several banks refused to recognize PhilID presented by depositors as a valid documents because of the absence of signature and address. BSFIs may use the PhilSys Check identity authentication tool to verify if the data stored in the QR code match the information printed on the face of the ID, the BSP said.The BSP, through Memorandum No.
