Registered foreign investments with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) or “hot money” posted net outflows for the fourth straight month in May, albeit lower than the previous month, data released Thursday showed.

Registered foreign investments with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or “hot money” posted net outflows for the fourth straight month in May, albeit lower than the previous month, data released Thursday showed.$351.87-million net outflows in AprilNet outflows were recorded in three out of the four weeks of the month, except for the second week from May 8 to 12 when inflows outpaced outflows to record net inflows of $35.79 million.

Some $256 million or 30.3% went to peso government securities, while less than 1% were channeled in other instruments. Gross outflows were recorded at $969.21 million, lower than the $1.064 billion in April and $1.236 billion the same month last year.
