MANILA - With just three days to go before he makes his debut as a professional boxer, Eumir Marcial is feeling good and believes he's already in top condition.
Marcial has been training with famed boxing coach Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. It's all part of his preparation for the Tokyo Olympics next year, with the bout against Whitfield just the latest step in his program. Sean Gibbons, the president of MP Promotions who brought Marcial to LA, believes Whitfield is an excellent opponent for the young Filipino boxer in his professional debut.
Marcial says he's been watching some videos of Whitfield's old fights, and plans to make the most of his physical advantages against the shorter American.
