“Hence, I am proposing this bill to address these issues and modernize our coast guard to better protect our country and our people,” Go said. Go said the reported aggressive moves of the Chinese Coast Guard vessels and militia last June 30, chasing two Philippine vessels during a resupply mission, highlights the importance of modernizing the PCG.

Part of the bill, Go said seeks to provide training and capacity-building programs for the PCG to make sure that its personnel are well-prepared for any challenges that may arise.
