After receiving praise from his idol, "blind balladeer" Carl Malone Montecido hopes to get a chance to sing with Sam Smith.
Montecido, whose cover of Smith's "Too Good at Goodbyes" went viral, said he didn't expect the singer to notice him. "Actually naluha ako eh, nung marami nag-PM sa akin na Carl, alam mo ba si Sam Smith nag-react doon sa version mo ng Too Good at Goodbyes. So sabi ko, ha, sino ba ako, I'm just a simple singer lang naman, aspiring singer dito sa Philippines pero napansin ako ng isang kilalang tao at hindi lang sila kilala eh, talagang famous talaga siya sa buong mundo," he said.
He was referred to as the "Blind Balladeer," referring to his condition and astounding voice, which many were reminded of when a video of him performing inside a appliance store went viral this past week. The video was taken by Facebook user Trixie Madison who shared her admiration for Montecido's voice by uploading it on the social media site. It has now garnered more than 7.7 million views.
