THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed 127 tax evasion cases amounting to P6.1 billion against 214 corporate officers with the Department of Justice (DoJ) on Thursday.

BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr., said this is his 'latest offensive against businesses and corporations who are not paying their proper taxes.

''Corporations and its officers should follow all regulations of the BIR,' Lumagui said.'This is a reminder to every corporation and corporate officer not to ignore the BIR. Do so and we will file criminal cases against you,' he added.The BIR however, did not name the officials involved in the cases.
