The bill seeking another round of salary increases for government workers is now under evaluation by the Office of the President, a Department of Budget and Management (DBM) official said on Wednesday.

Gerald Janda, Director IV of DBM, said they have set aside funds in the 2020 national budget to bankroll the implementation of the first tranche of the salary hike once the law is signed by the President.

“Once signed into law, the first tranche of the increase in the salary of government workers will take effect starting January 1, 2020. And we have already provided in the 2020 GAA a certain amount for the implementation of this under the miscellaneous personnel benefits fund.”
