Gaza News

US President Joe Biden said Saturday that a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war was possible as soon as 'tomorrow' if the militant group released its hostages.

A relatives of one of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza since the October 7 attacks by Palestinian militants, reacts as he speaks during a rally calling for their release outside the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, now informally called the"Hostages Square", in Tel Aviv on May 11, 2024, amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas .

"Israel said it's up to Hamas, if they wanted to do it, we could end it tomorrow. And the ceasefire would begin tomorrow," Biden told the crowd of about 100 people. "If they go into Rafah, I'm not supplying the weapons that have been used... to deal with the cities," Biden said in a televised interview with CNN.Hamas and Israel have so far failed to reach a ceasefire deal despite repeated rounds of indirect negotiations.

Israeli officials say 128 of them are still held captive in the Palestinian territory, including at least 36 who are dead.
