President Duterte has encouraged the nation to draw inspiration from revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio’s courage and determination in facing challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic and building the country’s better future.In a taped message Monday, the President paid tribute to the Filipino patriot on his 157th birth anniversary and expressed hope that Filipinos would become “worthy heirs” of the country he fought for years ago.
“His love for the country which aroused our ancestors to fight for our freedom and secure our rightful place in the community of nations is very vital now, more than ever, as we overcome the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic,” Duterte said. The President did not attend the Bonifacio Day ceremony held in Caloocan City on Monday. His pre-recorded message instead was aired during the commemoration that was carried live on state television.
