COTABATO CITY-The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) bureaucracy has absorbed the power and vital assets of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in the area of autonomy in Regions 9, 10 and 12.

The devolution of LTFRB power and function formed part of a remedial package of support brought in by Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade during his visit at the BARMM government seat here on September 12.

Since its inception in 1990 until its abolition early this year, the ARMM government was not able to exercise any authority over the LTFRB. Thus, ARMM constituents in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi were served by the LTFRB-Region 9; Lanao del Sur by LTFRB-Region 10; and Maguindanao by LTFRB-Region 12. LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra and BARMM’s Transportation and Communication Minister Dickson P. Hermoso signed documents mandating the devolution of the LTFRB function and assets.

Tugade and Delgra unveiled two models of vehicles showcased for the region’s transport sector to see and decide on type of units transport operators would prefer to buy.
