THE multi sectoral leaders of the Bangsamoro Automomous Region of Muslim Mindanao has recommended the appointment of a retired army general to lead the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity .The group's recommendation comes as it appealed to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. to immediately appoint a replacement for Carlito Galvez whom the President named to head the Department of National Defense.

The group believes that the appointment of Bernardo will avoid 'a dangerous impasse of prolonged leadership vacancy in OPAPRU along with its crucial role during the Bangsamoro transition.'He disclosed that Bernardo, if appointed by Marcos as secretary of OPAPRU, may enforce policies between Islamic extremist groups and state security forces to attain and sustain long-lasting peace in Mindanao.
