Amid the worsening traffic condition in the famed “summer capital of the Philippines” this holidays season, Baguio City approved the request of a group of independent bikers to offer free “angkas” rides to some locals and tourists.

The request was made by Robert Macagba, president of the Cordillera Motorcycle Riders Federation, Inc., to primarily aid passengers caught in traffic jams due to influx of tourists during the long break.

“Since the purpose of the free ‘angkas’ is very noble, your wish is granted, subject to existing laws, rules and regulations,” the approval letter reads released by Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan on Friday, December 27. The volunteers of the federation will be using their own motorbikes to deliver passengers from December 28 to December 30, but only within the city limits of Baguio.
