Award-winning comic book artist Gerry Alanguilan, known for his acclaimed comic book “Elmer,” his work on several DC and Marvel comics, and a viral video which landed him on UK television has died. He was 51.
Comic book stores also paid tribute to Alanguilan, whom they referred to as a hero, a legend and one of comics’ greatest champions.In his last blog entry last week, Alanguilan wrote that“It's such a constant struggle everyday. I have to admit it's really difficult,” he said. “Sometimes I have to lie down. But when I have to do that, I think of stories. I think of things to write down. I create characters.
He received the Ani ng Dangal award for visual arts in 2012 from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
