The changes were made in line with new standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization, the Office for Transportation Security said in a Facebook post.
"The revised list expanded the coverage of prohibited items to include chemicals and other toxic substances," the statement said. Liquid items are still limited to 100-ml containers, but would now be subject to special instruction from airlines, the OTS said. Aviation authorities began banning liquid products on planes after terrorists were caught smuggling liquid explosives through a flight to Northern America in 2006.
"Security is non-negotiable. We urge the public to refrain from bringing items that are prohibited in the airport to avoid delays and inconvenience," said OTS administrator Arturo Evangelista. "If you are unsure whether an item is prohibited or not, you may contact us through email, SMS Hotline, or any of our official social media accounts, or better yet, if it is not that important, we suggest that you just leave it at home," he said.
I wonder why packing tape is a prohibited items...I once bring in my handcarry bag and they confiscate it in the security check after immig. counter. May nakakaalam ba dito kung bakit?
