Authorities said the plane, which carried 38 soldiers and eight crew, landed around noon last Saturday at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport after its cockpit began emitting smoke.
The plane came from Okinawa, Japan and was on its way to Edinburgh, Australia, where the Royal Australian Air Force military airbase is located. PLt. Arleigh Gerona, airport terminal duty officer, said if the aircraft passes safety inspection and a test run, it will leave the country this afternoon.
