In its 11 p.m. bulletin, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 is up over the following areas, where locals may witness very light or no damage to low risk structures. Rice crops in their flowering stage, however, may suffer significant damage, PAGASA said.
Auring was last seen 210 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and a gustiness of up to 70 km/h. PAGASA said that there is an increasing likelihood that Auring will further weaken before it makes landfall. It added that the tropical depression may initially make landfall over Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar - Leyte area in the next six to 12 hours.
Meanwhile, PAGASA weather forecaster Chris Perez told CNN Philippines that Auring may have its landfall between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. of Monday morning.Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel told CNN Philippines that their low-lying areas in town are submerged in floodwaters. She said that 2,000 families were already evacuated.
Pimentel also said that rice fields in the town are also submerged in flood, with damage to agriculture estimated at P66 million.Meanwhile, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas earlier said in a radio interview that 398 families coming from areas prone to flood and landslides have voluntarily evacuated.
