In a historic first for Asia, Taiwan's parliament legalized same-sex marriage Should predominantly Catholic Philippines follow suit? MovePH

For Jhio Aranzaso and Jake Buenvenida, the issue on same-sex marriage is not about religion. Aranzaso appealed to the public to not take away from them the right that heterosexual couples enjoy.

The same sentiment was shared by Tes Fajardo Baldridge saying, everyone has the right to be happy and be with someone they love.ntified him or herself as gay, lesbian, trans, queer, etc, why would you infringe their right to choose a suitable partner for themselves and start their own families?" Nachor added that it's about time for the Philippines to move forward and stop stigmatizing the members of LGBTQI community by allowing them to choose someone they like to marry. But it seemed that the idea of same-sex marriage did not sit well for others. For some, civil union is okay, but same-sex marriage is not.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that he supported same-sex civil unions, but not same-sex marriages. seems to be a popular compromise among groups within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex . It would grant them the same civil rights, but it would reduce the opposition of conservatives who don't want to call it a marriage. Meanwhile, others expressed strong condemnation on the idea of same-sex marriage by citing verses from the Bible.

But for Rae Jann, who said he was a member of the LGBTQI community, asking for same-sex marriage is too much. Jann said that he was only asking for acceptance and not being tolerated. With the new composition of the Senate, is there hope for the LGBTQI community to win this battle for equal rights? –

Daming Catholic na pari, bading. Bishop Bacani isa na dyan, magsalita lang huling huli na.

SODOMY a doorstep to HELL

Just because other countries esp the west are doing it, doesn’t make it right!

Even if it is not a predominantly Catholic, I don’t see the sense of legislating same sex marriage. Loving is basic right. But pushing for a law that affects millions more to “legalize” something that doesn’t make sense eve is already too much.

The mindset of what the majority thinks at the expense of minority if prevailing in our country. Sadly, this doesn't just affect the rights of the LGBTQ+ community but also with the Lumads, the urban poor, and even the labor group.

👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎xxxxxxxx

E ano kung predominantly Catholic ang Pilipinas? Hindi naman sila ang ikakasal. And by marriage, hindi naman ito kasal sa simbahan. This is for civil rights and protection. We are a democratic country and there should be a diversity of beliefs.

NO

Unfortunately, I don’t think so. Filipinos are Catholic when it’s convenient for them. Talk about same sex marriage or divorce and they will say it’s against God. Yet they continue to make excuses for a President who encourages killing and makes rape a joke.

So if you dont have same sex marriage, love looses? Good luck to the people in the middle east. 🤪

Divorce/ Dissolution is still not a law here (yet)

the times are changing... but i ain't ready for this... this is just me.

It would be a difficult task to accomplish! I don’t see it happening sooner or later!

It’s about time.
