Philippine Army commander Lt. Gen. Andres Centino has been appointed as the new chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.In his speech during the change of command ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo, Centino told troops to continue the military's winning streak against enemies of the state, as they are getting closer to achieving victory against all threats.
Centino also reminded uniformed personnel that they have a deadline to meet in ending the local armed conflict before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down in June next year. The new AFP chief of staff also vowed that under his watch, the military will safeguard the May 2022 elections, and pursue the enforcement of the rule of law in the country's maritime territory.
Lt. Gen. Dionard Carlos, who became the new chief the Philippine National Police also on Friday, and Centino belong to the same PMA batch.The Tacloban-born Centino also earned a Master's Degree in Management from the University of the Philippines and a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
