Army captures NPA hideout in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – The Army 15th Infantry Battalion and the 47th IB overran a hideout of the New People’s Army following an encounter in Sitio Hanot, Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Thursday, July 14.

The clash was a result of the timely information provided by concerned citizens who reported the presence of armed men in the area, according to the Army. Lt. Col. Michael Cuarteros, 15th IB commander, commended the people’s sincerity in supporting the government’s campaign to end the local communist armed conflict in southern Negros by providing precise information on the whereabouts of the NPA.

According to the 3rd Infantry Division , 25 military encounters against CPP-NPA terrorists have been recorded within their area of responsibility since January.
