“picking a fight with the government,” adding that it is still committed to work with regulators to ensure the success of the motorycle taxi pilot run.“We are not picking a fight with government regulators. Right from the start, we worked hard to be compliant with everything the LTFRB and the DOTr’s TWG had set in the first motorcycle taxi test run,” Angkas Chief Transport Advocate George Royeca said in a press conference.
But Royeca affirmed that Angkas will continue to work with government regulators and not against them, and emphasized that they have been compliant with all the guidelines that the TWG set during the initial run of the pilot implementation. Two new bike firms, JoyRide and Move It, joined Angkas in the ongoing second leg of dry run which will run until March 23.
The Angkas official emphasized that the riders cap set by the TWG is an “unfair and anti-competitive provision” that will “punish” the majority of their riders. “If the new players cannot meet the 10,000 biker requirement, the negative variance will be distributed to who is ready, which is Angkas,” Gardiola told reporters in a press briefing.
