Angara reiterated his call after Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo reiterated that there is no transport crisis after enduring a four-hour commute to Malacañang after taking up the public’s challenge to experience commuters and motorists woes on the worsening traffic conditions in Metro Manila.

Angara said that while the public is waiting for the big-ticket infrastructure projects such as the Skyway extension, Metro Rail Transit and Light Rail Transit line expansions and rehabilitations of the Philippine National Railways to finish, the government should consider opening the Pasig River ferry system.
“A feasibility study has already been conducted for this project and from what we have been told, we can have a fully operational ferry transport system in just one year,” he added. Currently, there are 14 ferry stations situated along the Pasig River, out of which only 11 are operational.
