Communications Secretary Martin Andanar slammed the New People’s Army for the killing of six soldiers in Borongan City, Eastern Samar Monday.In a statement, Andanar said the Presidential Communications Operations Office condemned the ambush on members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines which instantly killed six of them and wounded 20 others because of the homemade explosives supposedly left behind by NPA rebels.

“Ito’y malinaw na isang paraan para po i-derail ang Executive Order No. 70 or ito po ang National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict at ang mga kaakibat po na mga aktibidad ng NTF-ELCAC ,” he said. President Duterte was set to meet with farmers from North Cotabato but decided to postpone it to condole with the families of the soldiers who were slain in the Borongan clash.

Killed were Sgt. Rex Jadulco, Cpl. Ronald Go, Cpl. Limar Banug, Pfc. Kent Loyd Agullo, Pvt. Charlie Del Rosario, and Pfc. Junmar Buranday.Philippine Army’s Eighth Infantry Division spokesperson Capt. Reynaldo Aragones said pursuit operations against the Communist terrorist group were launched.
