With 186 affirmative votes, five negative votes and seven abstentions, the House of Representatives has moved to censure Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez for violating the code of conduct of the House of Representatives.
House Members agreed to lessen the originally proposed 60-day suspension of Alvarez following appeals from Camiguin Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo and Northern Samar Rep. Paul Ruiz Daza. “This approach fosters a more constructive and rehabilitative outcome allowing Alvarez to make amends and, in the future, be more circumspect in making statements in public,” Romualdo said on Wednesday.
