Patuloy na hinihikayat ng isang infectious disease expert ang publiko na magpabakuna.

Ayon sa infectious disease expert na si Dr. Rontgene Solante, base sa ebidensiya ay mas maigsi ang panahon ng pagiging nakakahawa ng taong bakunado kontra COVID-19 sakaling tamaan ito ng sakit, at mahalaga pa rin na maturukan laban sa COVID-19.

Hindi lang kasi aniya sa antibody na dulot ng bakuna nakakakuha ng proteksiyon laban sa virus at dahil din sa tinatawag na T-Cells. "Your antibody protects us from getting the infection. But your T-cell is the one that will really kill the virus once it goes inside the body. The T-cells, the memory cells, these are capable of recalling the antibodies once it recognizes na meron siyang infection ng COVID-19. This is the one responsible for the durability of protection, the T-cell memory," ani Solante.

Sa kabila ng mabubuting dulot ng T-Cells, bumababa rin ito habang nagkakaedad o kaya'y kapag umiinom ng gamot na nakakaapekto sa immune system - na tinatawang na immunosenescene. Pero muling iginiit ni Solante na marami pa munang dapat isaalang-alang. "We need to evaluate further kung talaga bang kailangan ang booster at this point. Kung kelangan man, tingnan natin kung sino ang bibigyan ng booster dose. Depende na 'yan sa kung sino ang at risk of getting severe infection, those with comorbiditiess, immunocompromised. Hindi madali magbigay ng booster in the scenario na napakalimitado ng bakuna natin ngayon," ani Solante.
