AROUND 78,000 persons with disabilities and senior citizens benefited from the Department of Labor and Employment’s programs last year.

In the said year, DOLE was able to provide employment facilitation to 3,176 PWDs and 74,361 senior citizens. As for the agency’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program, it was able provide 2,791 PWDs and 53,837 senior citizens, with emergency employment pay worth P16 million and P258 million, respectively.

Last, the COA commended DOLE for ensuring that 30 percent of the members of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council are representatives of “differently-abled persons” and senior citizens.
