Makati Mayor Abby Binay declared a state of climate emergency in the city and vowed to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country's financial center.
“This will result not only in the disruption of public services but also the displacement of families and even entire communities," the mayor said during the "Cafe Talk for Resilient Makati." Binay said she wanted to see the active participation of the business sector, communities, and other stakeholders.
You can't prevent things to happen. Kahit you will declare it emergency for one year. Walang mangyayari. All we have to do is to minimize the impact. Plant more trees. Clear the waterways.

If we speak of climate, it affects more than just one city. It would be more effective to have actions that include the neighbors. Cities have tendencies to affect each other via air and water. Identify actionable metrics and indicators of climate corresponding to effects.

Our greenhouse emissions are much less, in fact nothing compared w/ highly industrialized countries like China, Germany, US etc. Yes we reduce emissions. Yes we create green spaces, but it will take more than that to address flooding, etc. what other actions cause flooding?

My parents' home is located somewhere in the Manila bay area and I can tell you, it's more than just climate change. Areas around the bay are becoming submerged bc of reclamation. Tides are affected by the sun-moon interaction and it is localized (by timezone/longitude) 1/2
Reduce use of fuel by developing Solar powered everything. Hinaharang lagi yang idea n yan ng mga malalaking fuel companies. Pero sana may politicians na magstand up para sa solar power. Sayang biyaya ng araw dito.
