She joined it when she herself was 11, and she said it was one of the best experiences of her childhood.
What is CISV? CISV stands for Children’s International Summer Villages. CISV International is a global organization of volunteers and participants dedicated to peace education through cross-cultural friendship. Through friendship, cooperation, and understanding at the grassroots level, they believe long lasting peace is possible and attainable.
The program my daughter attended was called “Village.” This is an international camp that brings 11-year-olds together to learn from each other and the world around them. The children come together from many different countries to take part in a variety of educational, cultural and fun activities. Each Village welcomes delegations from 10 to 12 countries. Each delegation has two boys and two girls, accompanied by an adult leader.
It is great to see that CISV is available to more children in the Philippines beyond Metro Manila. My son, Marcus, will actually be joining the Village that the Baguio chapter will be hosting this July. You can find out more information by visiting their Facebook page .
