Some 17,193 families or 69,251 individuals living in high-risk areas in Bicol Region (Region 5) and Eastern Visayas (Region 8) have been evacuated as a preventive measure ahead of typhoon Tisoy's (international name: Kammuri) landfall, authorities reported Monday.

Some 17,193 families or 69,251 individuals living in high-risk areas in Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas have been evacuated as a preventive measure ahead of typhoon Tisoy’s landfall, authorities reported Monday.

In Albay, 10,328 families were safely evacuated by village officials. Some 1,514 families left their homes in Camarines Norte while 3,645 families left their houses in Camarines Sur. Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines has alerted its Southern Luzon Command and various Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response units for any eventuality.

Arevalo said AFP Chief of Staff General Noel Clement has activated the Battle Staff at the General Headquarters to monitor how the typhoon will impact on the ground and to render immediate assistance as needed.
