3 Filipino crew hurt after Russian missile hits cargo ship in Ukraine's Black Sea

Three Filipino crewmen were hurt after a Russian missile hit a cargo ship in Ukraine's Black Sea, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega confirmed on Thursday.

He said a Filipino engine trainee injured his left hand, while the captain and a crewmember sustained minor injuries. He said they are all out of danger, but their families have been informed. CNN reported that according to Ukraine’s Operational Command South, the missile struck a cargo ship as it entered the Black Sea port's Odessa region, killing the ship pilot and injuring four others, including a port worker.

The ship was supposed to carry iron ore to China, Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said in a post on Facebook.CNN Philippines correspondent Tristan Nodalo contributed to this report.
