ABOUT 22,000 security personnel will be deployed to secure not only the Batasang Pambansa complex where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24, 2023 but in other areas in Metro Manila as well.

At least 31 entry and exit points will be set up throughout the metropolis as the Philippine National Police moved to activate Task Force Manila Shield.Police personnel will also be deployed in government offices and various vital installations.All these preparations, said PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., will ensure a calibrated response for the SONA.'Everything will be done in a manner that our response or actions will be calibrated,' Gen Acorda said on Saturday.

Demonstrators are urged to use the Quezon Memorial Circle for their mass actions.A 'strike force' will also be deployed to provide additional forces if needed.Meanwhile, the newly installed National Capital Region Police Office chief, BGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., said he has to check and review the security preparations so far, particularly contingency measures.'We still have two weeks and our plan is on the go.
