Two broadcasting companies can operate for another 25 years after President Duterte approved the renewal of their franchises.

The President has signed Republic Act No. 11492 renewing for another 25 years the franchise granted to Gold Label Broadcasting System Inc. The new law allows the company to establish, maintain, and operate radio and television broadcasting stations in Dumaguete City and other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The franchises are deemed revoked in the event the broadcasting firms fail to operate continuously for two years. The franchise holders also have responsibilities to the public, including providing free of charge adequate public service time to enable the government relay public announcements and warnings in times of emergencies and calamities.
