Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said at least 17 people were killed and 40 others were injured after the C-130 Hercules plane carrying 85 soldiers crashed in Patikul, Sulu, on Sunday, July 4.
Lorenzana, citing initial reports as of Sunday 2 pm, said 93 personnel were on board the military plane, including three pilots and five crew.Lorenzana said rescue and recovery operations were ongoing after the C130 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force crashed at around noon while about to land at the airport in Jolo, Sulu's capital.
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, a top commander in the region, confirmed that 17 bodies had been found. It is feared that the toll could climb given the number of passengers that boarded the plane, a C-130 Hercules. Asked if there were any civilian casualties, Vinluan said rescue operations were ongoing but that there were no houses located near the crash site.

On June, the S-70i Black Hawk aircraft crashed. We just acquired it starting 2020. Then now, Lockheed C-130 Hercules crashed. We just received it on January 2021. I hope it would be the last. 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏 so devastating!

A few weeks ago, a BlackHawk helicopter crashed in Central Luzon then now a C130 cargo plane. Both are totally damaged & cannot anymore be used. Are these crashes due to poor aircraft maintenance, poor pilot training or no available spare parts? 😔😔😔
