Some 100,000 OFWs who lost their jobs abroad amid the COVID-19 pandemic have returned to the country with more expected in the coming months.

Administration chief Hans Cacdac said. Of this number, 95,000 have gone to their hometowns with the assistance of the government. He said 50,000 were expected to return home this month.

The Department of Labor and Employment has estimated that 150,000 would arrive in the country in the coming months, he said. Meanwhile, Cacdac also said the remains of 71 Filipinos who died in Saudi Arabia were scheduled to arrive on Sunday. Forty of them due to COVID-19. —Leila B. Salaverria
