DAVAO CITY – A newborn baby in Mati City has recently recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the city’s Incident Management Team (IMT) reported on Wednesday, March 31.

The baby was only three days old when she was confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19. The baby and her mother are, however, asymptomatic and were readily isolated at the Alternate Care Site.

The mother is a close contact of her husband, who was symptomatic. She was already in isolation when she was rushed to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center on March 21 to give birth. “Immediately after giving birth, the mother and daughter were isolated at the Alternate Care Site in Milagrosa,” the IMT reported.

The father has already recovered on March 28, while his 10-day-old baby and his wife were both declared recovered on March 31.
