THE 30-day overseas voting period for Filipinos abroad has started today, Sunday, April 10, the Commission on Elections said.A month before the May 9 national elections, the poll body said 1,697,215 overseas Filipinos will cast their votes in 92 Philippine posts, embassies and consulates situated across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said the results of overseas voting would not be known until the counting has started after the end of the voting period on May 9.In a related development, the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council operational guidelines for the conduct of the May 9 polls were signed on Friday, April 8.Present during the event were Comelec Chairman Saidamen Balt Pangarungan, Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen.
