Zamfara State Police Command said a group of armed men suspected to be bandits, with dangerous weapons, on Saturday, invaded students' rented house on the outskirts of an area of Sabon Garin in Damba and abducted two students and a staff of the Federal University Gusau at gunpoint.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital by the State Police Command's spokesman, Yazeed Abdullahi.

'On receipt of the information, the striking force of the Command mobilized for a search and rescue operation which yielded a very good and positive result as all the victims were rescued unhurt, operations are still on with the view of arresting the fleeting abductors', the statement added.
