The Police Command in Borno has deployed 5,500 security personnel in the state to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the personnel include: men of the Police Mobile Force , the Counter-Terrorism Unit , the Anti-Bomb Squad , the Sniffer Dog Section, and the “Crack Team’’ personnel.

Umar said that the command would collaborate with other sister security agencies and all critical stakeholders to ensure that the celebrations would be peaceful and hitch-free. He explained that the curfew was still in force, adding that the command would sanction any vehicle moving during curfew hours within the state capital.

He added that the command would not take lightly any act capable of creating panic or threatening the relative peace and security currently being experienced in the state, noting that any offender arrested would be made to face the law.
