The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, has decried the high level of poverty in the Northern region of the country, stressing that such status is a cause for concern for its leaders.
“The truth is nobody who is a leader in northern Nigeria today can afford to be happy. You cannot be happy with 87 per cent of the poverty in Nigeria being in the North. You cannot be happy with millions of northern children out of school.

The North have a good chance of feeding the whole of Nigeria, they are blessed with precious mineral resources and have young and able manpower, all they need is to build a strong educated base to enable them tap into the available factors.
why poverty wouldn't ravage North when the elites are not helping matters ! Elites in the North are not helping their people in acquiring any benefit from the government unlike other regions. people in the North are lacking support for decades!

The north is a desert, religious fanatics, with no room or plan to align with the 21century. One man will have 22 children and four wives in this economy, with the bogus population most of them end up joining sects, BokoHaram etc. Ur problems are deep not just poverty.
