Yoruba group tackles NEF, ACF on restructuring - Punch Newspapers

While rejecting restructuring, the group said, “The agitations for restructuring or Yoruba Nation and independent nation by other ethnic nationalities is the result of abuse of the regions on grounds of insecurity, resource control, and related grounds. The abuses have been perpetrated using the presidency and administrative organs of the centre to blatantly neglect the rights and well-being of ethnic nationalities.

“Nigeria at independence had three regions; Northern, Eastern, and Western, each autonomous in the constitution and several ministries. “The offer of restructuring wherein the North retains the presidency only ensures more of the same, for example, a Nigeria in which the President appoint the Inspector General of Police to whom even commissioners of police appointed by the governors answer to, essentially with the security of lives and prosperity of ethnic nationalities in the hands of one man at the centre who care no hoot about other ethnic nationalities.

“The antidote is nothing short of independent Yoruba Nation, and similar nation for desiring ethnic nationalities justifiably fed up with the self-appointed colonial master of the North,” the group added.
