to Nigeria, Abhay Thakur has said that Yoga can help build strong immunity against COVID-19 if it is practiced consistently; stressing that the exercise has many benefits for the body as well as the mind.with the theme ‘Yoga for wellness’, which he said reflects the concerns for the good health and well being of people across the globe.
Giving his remarks after participating in the exercise held at the Indian High Commission in Abuja on Saturday, Thakur profusely quoted the India Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who said that Yoga has the power to connect people around the world. In a letter the Indian Prime Minister said “Yoga has many benefits for the body as well as the mind. Despite all the efforts and precautions, COVID-19 may infect any person. However, a strong immune system can aid in the fight against it. Yoga can help build that immunity, for instance, through breathing exercises that strengthen the lungs. At the same time, across the world, millions of people have been forced to stay indoors for months. This has taken a toll on their mental health as well.
Modi further said: “Yoga has an inherent power to connect. Yoga is good for community, immunity, and unity. The theme of International Day of Yoga celebrations this year reflects the concern for the good health and well-being of people across the globe. It is an endeavour to ensure that we focus on fitness, as well as wellness.”
Thakur further disclosed that in partnership with Africa, the Government of India will be holding an International Conference on 21-22 June, 2021, with the theme ‘Ubuntu and Yoga.’The event drew together, members of the diplomatic corps, including the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, the Chairman of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri-Erewa and heads of Indian community organizations, friends of India and Indian nationals in Nigeria.
That is a very misleading statement, if such is the truth, why is the death rate from Covid19 so high in India?
