IMPLY known as Yemi AD, Czech-born Nigerian artiste, Yemi Akinyemi Dele, started off as a dancer, choreographer but later moved behind the scene to work with top artistes and global brands, including Grammy Award winner, Kanye West. Yemi AD who grew up with his mother in the Czech Republic, recently came to Nigeria for the first time to retrace his origin. OLAITAN GANIU met him.
According Yemi AD, the mission is to help young Nigerians to explore their creativity and enable new opportunities where participating students will have a chance to apply for scholarships, including flights and accommodation to study dance and/or coding in Europe. Yemi AD who had visited many cities around the world could not hold his ecstasy as he prepared to visit the country. And less than a day to his journey, he took to Instagram to write: “In about 24 hours I will get on the plane and fly to my dad’s home country Nigeria ???? It will be the first time in my life to visit it ?? I am excited and somehow worried at the same time!”
But, one day, he noticed he was dancing and the kids around the city gathered to watch him and later started befriending him. In 1999, Yemi AD established a dance company and a talent agency called, ‘Dance Academy Park’, which has won him several awards.
