A woman was reportedly shot and killed by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara state. The incident occurred when the NSCDC personnel opened fire in pursuit of hoodlums, accidentally hitting the victim at an Eid ground. An angry mob set fire to an NSCDC vehicle in response to the incident. Two NSCDC personnel are currently in police custody, and an investigation is underway.

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have allegedly shot a woman to death in Zamfara state.

An angry mob reportedly set fire to an operative vehicle of the NSCDC in reaction to the “killing” of the woman. Meanwhile, Ikor Oche, spokesperson of NSCDC in Zamfara, said operatives of the corps did not shoot the woman. “Because they were the ones close to the scene, a mob descended on them. They had to run for their safety and abandoned their Hilux vehicle,” he said.
